When my brother and his wife bought their NYC apartment my Dad crafted a countertop to go between the kitchen and living room. He used cherry harvested from their Danby, Vermont property. Fast forward to 2019 and they are selling but want to keep the countertop as a memory in their new California home. I fabricated a replacement for it, removed the original and spent time trying to figure out what to do with it. We decided on a table with rustic metal legs. We would leave all of the original patina; the marks of years of use. I had a friend with a CNC machine engrave the NYC address in the corner and filled it with black epoxy. The legs are attached with machine screws into threaded inserts, making it easy to dissemble, ship and reassemble in California. The 87 Barrow Street table; a table that tells a great story!
